Apollonia in Greek means “Belonging to Apollo” and in the Greek mythology, Apollo was the Greek god of sun, light, music and poetry. But in the Bible, Apollonia means perdition or destruction. So in a sense, Apollonia Viteli-Corleone was the sun and the light, giving Michael Corleone comfort and love, but also was also the reason of the destruction of his old persona because of her assassination,from a innocent bystander of his family business to another complete different person- a ruthless and cold-hearted Don.
